Summary:

This is a living document that establishes C4 IU1’s current principles and approach to evidence review and synthesis, informed by methodological literature, scoping work and engagement with evidence producers and users. It is deliberately designed to evolve as C4 undertakes reviews across different questions, evidence bases and contexts. Experience from completed reviews will be used systematically to test, refine and extend the framework, including decisions about review design, searching, screening, appraisal, synthesis, stakeholder involvement, use of AI, reporting and evidence mobilisation. Major methodological changes will be documented through version control so that the development of C4’s approach remains transparent.
