We have taken custodianship of Learning from Big Local and the Big Local programme legacy to ensure the research and knowledge gained over the last 15 years remains available for years to come.
About Local Trust
Local Trust is a key partner of The Centre for Collaboration in Community Connectedness, providing us with a funding grant and their experience from delivering Big Local to support our mission of enabling better-connected communities across the UK.
Local Trust is a place-based funder supporting community-led development and neighbourhood change across England. The organisation was established in 2011 to deliver Big Local, a programme funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
Established as a time-limited organisation, Local Trust will close at the end of 2026 following the end of Big Local.
About Big Local
Big Local entrusted 150 communities with a £1 million long-term, flexible funding grant designed to put decision-making directly in the hands of residents, taking a long-term approach to neighbourhood change.
Although the Big Local programme has formally ended, its legacy and impact continue. More than 100 community-led legacy organisations are continuing the work started through Big Local, strengthening local networks and supporting residents to drive change in their local areas.
Additionally, the Big Local programme generated one of the richest bodies of evidence on community-led development and place-based, neighbourhood-facing approaches within the UK. You can access this learning and research on the Learning from Big Local website.
